- Today is lovely; awaiting your arrival with the sun on my back and the wind in my hair, I sit upon the rooftop with my guitar and my paperback. Up there, with eyes skimming the treetops, sound takes its time traveling upwards to the sky; and it is strangely comforting; that I am at my best when no one hears me.
- Dave Eggers is swimming streams in my head. Some books bring me inclinations to write, but other books, better books, remind me that though I could be fairly good at my very best, I could never be heartbreakingly genius.
- Two more days to allow for the visa to come through. I am awaiting a call from the Dominican Consulate telling me, "Your visa is here! You are now eligible to visit our island, and aren't you lucky, it's hurricane season!"
- A midterm tomorrow I am completely unprepared for as per usual. And sitting outside for lunch today, I think I have miraculously acquired some new allergies. God bless pollen and all the other pretty little irritants that fly in the sky.
- The man at starbucks gives me free coffees. He is tall, and on his breaks, he stands outside and smokes his cigarettes. I am awkward and embarrassed in his attention, and I wish you were here, so I could bury face in your chest, so no one would look at me like that.
