Also, strangely, loungewear seems to be a rather holiday-present-ish thing. Probably has to do with all that sitting/lounging around people do on christmas morn or post-holiday feast or when watching National Lampoon on tv (as according to the tracy family tradition) or when you've just come back in from a day out in the snow (skiing, snowboarding, spontaneous snowball-fighting or what have you) and it feels so nice to get into some soft comfy warm things. Okay..
1. These aerie pj pants are so freaking amazing! Yes, how awesome would it be to wear pj's with cute little snowmen on them! There really isn't any arguing, the only way they'd be better is if they had little reindeers or penguins on them.
2. Well, I don't really know anyone who actually sleeps in a nightie (well, maybe except for miss shabnam, and her nighties are cool!) Yes, but anyway, this one is cute for those who do!
3. Aerie softest robe. Never tried this on, but I'm inclined to believe it lives up to its 'softest' name considering everything else that's named 'softest' is pretty much soft and lovely. But robes are a great; in fact, I know people who live in their robes all day, so they must be great.
More cold weather pretty things:
1. Earmuff headphones - Oh my god, I love these! Someone buy them for me please! but ok, seriously, they keep the ears warm and you can listen to music at the same time, is that not awesome?
2. Everyone living in a somewhat cold climate should own a pair of convertible mittens. I mean, is there a better way to reach for bus change (or just pocket stuff) in the winter? And these ones are cute, and come in an assortment of colours!
3. I am currently wearing a pair of brilliant sockettes bestowed upon me so generously by miss salva last christmas, and I' m telling the truth when I say that they're keeping me warm. And so they're functional, and they're spectacularly pretty-looking too, it's a definite win-win.
4. Or if you're not feeling the sockettes, a pair of cute, snowbunny booties will also do the job, like these awesome sweater boots.
5. And of course, we all need a hat because we lose 30% of our body heat through our heads! My favourite hat is still tied between my brother's 'russian' hat and my earflap hat. But this bomber hat is quite nice, no?
For folks who like quirky knick-knacks for the home and kitchen, these pretty little things are quite lustworthy and very decorative indeed.
1. Tea for one set - I love teasets (I think I was partially conditioned from watching miss cousineau make gunpowder tea) and this one is cute, although probably not as cute as some traditional teapot/cups that you can find out there. But then on the other hand, it does have a huge mug and it is a stackable thing, which might just redeem it.
2. Again, stackable things. But this time, coffee cups! Everytime I look at this though, I keep seeing a picture of little birds sitting on the nervous system, which is probably slightly disturbing.
1. With the holidays, MAC always does a brush collection, and their brushes are amazing. They're really durable, soft and they don't shed, which is nice. This year, the heirloom collection has a range of different brush combinations. This one is nice because it included most of the basic brushes a girl needs (powder, concealer, eyes), and it comes in the prettiest of clutches.
2. This sephora brush set holds most of the tools needed. The brushes are double ended so essentially, there're 8 brushes in the set (powder, foundation, lip, concealer, eyes) -which covers almost your every need.
3. For a more affordable version of the first sephora set, this one is less than half the price and includes most of the basic brushes in the MAC set.
4. Benefit's powder pop! is a limited edition combination of their 3 best-selling powders - hula, dandelion and dallas! I love these powder boxes individually, they're packaged oh so nicely and have a cute little flat brush - but now the combination of the three is pure brilliance!
5. At bloomingdales about a month ago, I came across this cle de peau concealer and trust me, this is THE concealer. It doesn't separate, it doesn't settle in the creases, it is wondrous and a miracle worker. But of course, there is a big price tag that comes with that little stick, one that I can't afford yet, and for those of you who can, I am infinitely envious.
And lastly, just two lovely things I cam across:
1. The Sak Dakato hobo: if only I had read about you sooner, I would have committed to you in a minute. So leathery, so pretty, so perfect. sigh.
2. Sabina leather stachel, cute and kinda lovelylovely.
